Maria Sevilla trained under Master teacher Ivon Dahl and is certified through the Pilates Method Alliance, the only national certification for Pilates instructors.

Maria was introduced to Pilates in 2000. Soon after enrolling in group reformer classes, she became dedicated to the Pilates method as her only workout regime. After several classes her love of the work grew and her dedication to bringing it to others became her career focus. Once she received her certification under Dahl’s International Pilates Certification program, she began teaching in Los Angeles, California. Maria opened The Pilates Life in downtown Spokane, WA in January of 2005, and continued her education with master teacher Elizabeth Jones-Boswell who specializes in rehabilitation Pilates.

After several years of teaching, Maria embarked on earning her master’s certification and in February of 2010 she received the title of master teacher under the Pilates Sports Center Master training program in Encino, CA and has begun teaching their 450 hour comprehensive instructor training program in Spokane and Seattle.

She has had 2 successful pregnancies while doing Pilates and believes it’s essential for pregnant women to stay healthy to aid the body in recovery after birth. Her philosophy is to help her clients re-discover their bodies. “It not only teaches you how to move more efficiently, but creates a more uniform body…The overall affect is life changing.”

Christina Sauer

Instructor

Christina was introduced to Pilates in 2007 after developing severe tendonitis and having to change occupations. After a few months of Pilates, the results were obvious. If you are passionate about something you believe in, you want to share it with others. Sharing the benefits of Pilates became Christina’s goal. In January 2008, she began her training. In the spring of 2011, Christina completed a 488 hour comprehensive training of all Pilates apparatus through Balanced Body. Later, in August 2009, she was introduced to Sherri Betz, PT, Polestar Teacher Trainer, who teaches a Pilates for Osteoporosis program. This program provides alternative movement patters for those with Osteoporosis while providing the strength and flexibility that is still needed in all clients. This training has also peaked Christina’s interest in helping her clients with resources for bone health. In the summer of 2011, she became a volunteer for American Bone Health. Her goal is to direct the general public to excellent resources on bone health and exercise, especially her clients. Her training with American Bone Health provided an in depth course on calcium, vitamin, exercise, and assessment tools. It provides ways to help others learn about bone health and gives them resources enabling them to make informed decisions about their health. Christina beleives in “improvement of movement” no matter what age we are.

Christina offers a Healthy Spine Package which covers pilates fundamentals, balance, coordination and weightbearing exercises. This package enables you to prepare to transition to the Healthy Spine Reformer class.

Melissa Falarski

Instructor

A native of San Francisco, Melissa has been teaching Pilates since 2005. She became certified by Barbara Wintroub, a PMA master teacher at Retrofit Pilates Studio in Los Angeles. Melissa taught at several Los Angeles studios before moving to Seattle. Her main goal when teaching is to make sure that her classes are challenging but also stay upbeat and fun.
